About Us: Transitioning with Technology is comprised of a group of five educators who are passionate about providing people with disabilities with the tools they need to participate in life.
Rita Krupp was a Speech/Language Pathologist working in public schools for 38 years. She has a passion for working with people with significant disabilities who require assistive technology to communicate and to participate fully in life.
Liz Castagnera is a special education teacher in the Grossmont Union High School District and has worked with individuals with disabilities since 1980. She is dedicated to increasing opportunities for this population so that everyone is able to experience life to its fullest extent possible. Liz loves being part of “Transitioning with Technology” as it allows her to help others obtain equipment necessary to continue learning, communicating and participating.
Jennifer Hunt’s passion for supporting students with disabilities started the summer she graduated from high school and she never looked back. Over the last 26 years, Jennifer has held a variety of positions in education and is currently the administrator for San Diego Unified School District’s Home & Hospital department. In 2004 with the support of the Johnson family and Fieldstone Homes, Jennifer started the Jane Johnson Fund (JJF)with the mission of providing students with the educational tools needed to be actively and independently engaged in school and life. The JJF was a great success and the initial intent/goals were met allowing the members to focus their efforts in providing support and technology to students exiting the public school system through Transitioning with Technology JJF.
After 40 years working in public schools as an SLP with students of all ages and stages of communication development, Chris Villalobos maintains a genuine passion for maximizing the communication potential of each student. She was part of the initial movement of adopting alternative, accessible forms of communication for students in the Grossmont District and has experience with assessing and implementing a variety of AAC systems. She believes that all students have a voice, a desire to communicate, and she strives to provide a way for that voice to be heard through Transitioning with Technology!
Kaydie has worked in a variety of programs and classrooms in the Grossmont Union High School District over the past twelve years. As a district Assistive Technology teacher her role is to implement, support and teach people to use assistive technology and devices. Her passions include supporting students with significant disabilities, providing assistive technology to give students their voice, and finding ways for every student to access their environment successfully. She is so excited to expand opportunities for individuals with disabilities through Transitioning With Technology!
Together we hope to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities through technology!
